Regular Season Round 2: Sf.Gheorghe - Mersin BSB 87-70

Round 2 most important game was a defeat of Turkish Mersin BSB (1-1). They were defeated by Romanian Sf.Gheorghe (1-1) 87-70 on Thursday night. The game without a history. Sf.Gheorghe led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Sf.Gheorghe forced 19 Mersin BSB turnovers and outrebounded them 45-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Mersin BSB's players. American center Kristina Higgins (196-94, college: Baylor) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 19 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Lithuanian swingman Marina Solopova (182-90) chipped in 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. American guard Tiffany Mitchell (175-94, college: S.Carolina, agency: LBM Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and guard Asena Yalcin (170-91, agency: FlyBasketball) scored 14 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mersin BSB will play next round against strong Enisey Krasnoyarsk trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Sf.Gheorghe will try to continue on its current victory against Ormanspor in Ankara.
