Regular Season Round 2: Telge - Artego Bydg. 63-85

Rather expected game when Swedish Telge (0-2) was crushed at home by Polish Artego Bydg. (2-0) 85-63 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Artego Bydg.. Telge was better in fourth quarter 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Telge to just 4 points in first quarter. Artego Bydg. dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Telge's 32. They outrebounded Telge 37-19 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Artego Bydg. looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Telge's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Artego Bydg. made 10 blocks. American-Polish point guard Julie McBride (163-82, college: Syracuse) had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 8 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian-Bosnian center Dragana Stankovic (195-95) chipped in 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 blocks during the contest (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Artego Bydg. players scored in double figures. Artego Bydg.'s coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Klara Lundquist (173-99) responded with 26 points and 5 assists and forward Ellen Astrom (170-96) scored 11 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Artego Bydg. will face Spartak Vidnoye (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Telge will play against AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
