Regular Season Round 6: ASVEL - Valencia 73-69

There was a change at the Eurocup leadership position after last games. Round 6 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Spanish Valencia Basket (4-2). They were defeated by second ranked French ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (5-1) 73-69 on Tuesday night. It was a key game for the top position in Group C. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. American-Serbian point guard DeMarcus Nelson (193-85, college: Duke) scored 20 points to lead the charge for the winners and Lithuanian point guard Mantas Kalnietis (196-86, agency: Players Group) chipped in 11 points and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was French power forward Louis Labeyrie (208-92) with 17 points and 9 rebounds and American center Mike Tobey (212-94, college: Virginia) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group C leader. Valencia Basket at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Crvena Zvezda who have the same record. Valencia Basket will play next round against strong Turk Telekom trying to make it back to the top of the standings. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Dolomiti En. TR in Trento.
