Regular Season Round 3: MBA - Galatasaray 67-89
Date: November 8, 2018
There was a small surprise in Moscow where Turkish Galatasaray (2-1) smashed Russian MBA (2-1) 89-67 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-67. Galatasaray made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 MBA turnovers and had a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Sinem Atas (185-95, agency: FlyBasketball) who scored 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Moriah Jefferson (170-94, college: Connecticut) chipped in 19 points, 8 assists and 8 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Karina Nizamova (170-92) who recorded 16 points and 5 rebounds and Liudmila Sapova (188-84) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Galatasaray will face Niki Lefkadas (#4) on the road in the next round. MBA will play against Energa Torun and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
