Regular Season Round 3: Telge - Gorzow Wlkp. 57-84

There was no surprise when Swedish Telge (0-3) was crushed at home by Polish AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (2-1) 84-57 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-57. AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski dominated on the defensive end, holding Telge to just 7 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Telge's 28. They outrebounded Telge 41-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian forward Laura Juskaite (187-97) who scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. German-Polish power forward Katharina Fikiel (194-87) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski players scored in double figures. AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Klara Lundquist (173-99) who recorded 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Tilde Ahlin (185-90, college: Anderson, SC) added 10 points respectively. AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski will face Artego Bydg. in Bydgoszcz in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Telge will play at home against Spartak Vidnoye and hopes to get finally their first victory.
