Regular Season Round 7: Asseco Arka - Tofas 77-87

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Polish Asseco Arka's (1-6) home loss to fifth ranked Turkish Tofas (3-4) 77-87 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-77. Tofas dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Asseco Arka's 28. It was a great shooting night for Tofas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Sammy Mejia (199-83, college: De Paul) fired 22 points, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Guard Diante Garrett (193-88, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists. Four Tofas players scored in double figures. Swingman Josh Bostic (196-87, college: Findlay, OH) produced 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and center Robert Upshaw (213-94, college: Washington) added 21 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Tofas moved-up to fourth place in Group B. Loser Asseco Arka stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Tofas will face league's leader Lokomotiv in Krasnodar in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Asseco Arka will play on the road against Cedevita (#3) in Zagreb and hope to win that game.
