Regular Season Round 7: Valencia - Turk Telekom 101-83

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Spanish Valencia Basket as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group C. Valencia Basket defeated 4th placed Turkish Turk Telekom at home 101-83. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Turk Telekom. It looked good early as Turk Telekom took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Valencia Basket had a 33-21 second period charge getting the lead and Turk Telekom was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-101. Valencia Basket well out of reach of Turk Telekom shooting 74.5 percent from the field and made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Valencia Basket had a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 60.9 percentage. Valencia Basket players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Belgian point guard Sam Van-Rossom (188-86) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 7 assists. Montenegrin power forward Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 12 points and 6 assists for the winners. American swingman Reggie Redding (195-88, college: Villanova) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 assists and 4 steals and Serbian center Vladimir Stimac (210-87, agency: Interperformances) added 16 points in the effort for Turk Telekom. Five Valencia Basket and four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with ASVEL. Turk Telekom at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Turk Telekom will play next round against strong ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket trying to get back on the winning streak. Valencia Basket will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Partizan at Beograd.
