Regular Season Round 8: Germani BR - Galatasaray 86-65
Date: November 21, 2018
There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Italian Germani BR (3-5) crushed bottom-ranked Turkish Galatasaray (3-5) in Brescia 86-65 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Germani BR led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Galatasaray to just 5 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Galatasaray 38-27 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Germani BR looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Jordan Hamilton (201-90, college: Texas) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The other American import guard Bryon Allen (193-92, college: George Mason) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Four Germani BR players scored in double figures. American forward Nigel Hayes (203-94, college: Wisconsin) replied with 16 points and 9 rebounds and Greek-American center Zach Auguste (208-93, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) added 12 points in the effort for Galatasaray. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Germani BR moved-up to fourth place in Group A, which they share with Ratiopharm and Galatasaray. Germani BR will face higher ranked Crvena Zvezda (#3) in Beograd in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Galatasaray will play on the road against the league's leader Monaco and hope to win that game.
