Regular Season Round 4: Energa Torun - MBA 95-86

Date: November 29, 2018
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when third ranked Polish Energa Torun (2-1) won against at home their biggest opponent Russian MBA (2-1) 95-86 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-86. Energa Torun made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. MBA was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Canadian guard Nirra Fields (175-93, college: UCLA) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Lithuanian power forward Laura Svaryte (190-92) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners. Energa Torun's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Anna Leshovceva (181-87) replied with 25 points and Varvara Psareva (192-85) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for MBA. Five Energa Torun and four MBA players scored in double figures. Energa Torun moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with defeated MBA. Energa Torun will face league's leader Galatasaray in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. MBA will play at home against Niki Lefkadas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
