Regular Season Round 5: Cegledi EKK - Lyon 73-95

Rather expected game when 4th placed Hungarian Cegledi EKK (0-4) was crushed at home by second ranked French Lyon (2-2) 95-73 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Lyon. Cegledi EKK was better in fourth quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lyon dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Cegledi EKK's 38. They outrebounded Cegledi EKK 35-14 including a 11-0 advantage in offensive rebounds. Lyon looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Cegledi EKK's players. Brazilian center Clarissa Dos-Santos (185-88, agency: ProDep Management) stepped up and scored 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Canadian forward Michelle Plouffe (193-92, college: Utah) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Serbian point guard Jovana Popovic (173-90) responded with 25 points and Mozambican power forward Leia Dongue (185-91) scored 19 points.
