Important game to mention about took place in Villeurbanne. Sixth ranked Serbian Partizan (3-6) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging second-best French ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (6-3) 78-75 on Tuesday evening. The guests were ahead by 5 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 22-18 run, which allowed them to win the game. Partizan made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Australian center Jock Landale (211-95, college: St.Mary's, CA) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winning side and American point guard Marcus Paige (184-93, college: N.Carolina) accounted for 15 points and 6 assists. Five Partizan players scored in double figures. Croatian center Miro Bilan (213-89, agency: BeoBasket) came up with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Lithuanian point guard Mantas Kalnietis (196-86, agency: Players Group) added 10 points and 7 assists respectively for ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Partizan moved-up to fifth place in Group C, which they share with Dolomiti En. TR. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Partizan will play against higher ranked Turk Telekom (#4) in Ankara in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will play on the road against Zenit in Sankt Petersburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
