Regular Season Round 9: Monaco - Galatasaray 76-71
Date: December 12, 2018
Very predictable result when first ranked French Monaco (7-2) defeated at home bottom-ranked Turkish Galatasaray (3-6) 76-71 on Wednesday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Galatasaray trailed by 17 points after 3 quarters before a 25-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-76 at the end of the game. Galatasaray was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Paul Lacombe (190-90, agency: BeoBasket) stepped up and scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Bosnian center Elmedin Kikanovic (211-88, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Greek-American center Zach Auguste (208-93, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Nigel Hayes (203-94, college: Wisconsin) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Galatasaray's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Monaco maintains first place in Group A with 7-2 record. Loser Galatasaray stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Monaco will face league's second-placed Andorra on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Galatasaray will play against Crvena Zvezda (#3) and hope to win that game.
