Rather expected game in Istanbul where German EWE Baskets (0-2) were defeated by Turkish Galatasaray (2-0) 92-79 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-79. Galatasaray made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Greek-American center Zach Auguste (208-93, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American Aaron Harrison (198-94, college: Kentucky) chipped in 17 points and 8 assists during the contest. American swingman Rickey Paulding (196-82, college: Missouri) responded with 17 points and his fellow American import guard Braydon Hobbs (196-89, college: Bellarmine) scored 11 points and 7 assists. Five Galatasaray and four EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Galatasaray will face Unicaja Malaga on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. EWE Baskets will play against Trento (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
