Regular Season Round 4: Brescia - Darussafaka 35-61
Date: October 23, 2019
We should not miss a road victory of leader Turkish Darussafaka (3-1) who outleveled their biggest opponent Italian Brescia (2-2) by 26 points 61-35. It was a key game for the top position in Group C. The game was mostly controlled by Darussafaka. Brescia was better in second period 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Brescia to just 5 points in first quarter. Darussafaka held Brescia to an opponent 19.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 27.8 percent accuracy of the winners and had 22 for 33 from the free-throw line, while Brescia only scored six points from the stripe. They outrebounded Brescia 47-33 including 36 on the defensive glass. 27 personal fouls committed by Brescia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Bonzie Colson-Jr (196-96, college: Notre Dame) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Trinidad and Tobago center Johnny Hamilton (213-94, college: UT Arlington) chipped in 5 points and 12 rebounds. Awudu Abass (199-93, agency: Players Group) produced 12 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Kenneth Horton (201-89, college: CCSU) added 6 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Darussafaka keeps a position of Group C leader, which they share with Unics. Brescia at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. Darussafaka's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Unics Kazan at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Brescia will play against JSF Nanterre and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
