Regular Season Round 6: Darussafaka - Cedevita Olimpija 72-76

Date: November 6, 2019
There was a small surprise in Istanbul where sixth ranked Slovenian Cedevita Olimpija (1-5) beat 3rd ranked Turkish Darussafaka (3-3) 76-72 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-72. Cedevita Olimpija outrebounded Darussafaka 38-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Codi Miller-McIntyre (193-94, college: Wake Forest) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Croatian Filip Kruslin (198-89, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 17 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Puerto Rican guard Gary Browne (185-93, college: WVU) who recorded 17 points and 6 assists and Hungarian-American power forward Jarrod Jones (207-90, college: Ball St.) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Cedevita Olimpija and five Darussafaka players scored in double figures. Darussafaka's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Cedevita Olimpija maintains sixth position in Group C with 1-5 record. Loser Darussafaka keeps the third place with three games lost. Cedevita Olimpija will face league's leader Unics Kazan at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Darussafaka will play against JSF Nanterre and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
