Regular Season Round 4: Namur - Olympiacos 55-83

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Greek Olympiacos (3-1) outplayed on the road 4th ranked Belgian Belfius Namur (0-4) 83-55 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Olympiacos. Belfius Namur was better in third quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Belfius Namur to just 6 points in second quarter. Olympiacos shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. It was a very good performance for American guard Jessica Thomas (168-94, college: Miami, FL, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 4 assists. American-Greek guard Jacki Gemelos (182-88, college: USC) contributed with 23 points (perfect from downtown making all five shots) for the winners. Olympiacos' coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Nigerian Sarah Imovbioh (188-92, college: S.Carolina) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and Portuguese Carolina Da-Silva (188-90, college: Tallahassee CC) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Belfius Namur. Defending Greek champion maintains second position in Group G with 3-1 record having just 2 victories less than leader Spartak N. Loser Belfius Namur still closes the standings with four games lost. Olympiacos will face league's leader Valencia at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Belfius Namur will play against Cegledi EKK and hopes to get finally their first victory.
