Regular Season Round 7: Venezia - Lokomotiv 66-61

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Italian Umana Venezia as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group B. Umana Venezia defeated 5th ranked Russian Lokomotiv at home 66-61. Lokomotiv was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 18-11 charge of Umana Venezia, which allowed them to win the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Lokomotiv was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. It was a great evening for point guard Julyan Stone (198-88, college: UTEP) who led his team to a victory scoring 8 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Austin Daye (211-88, college: Gonzaga, agency: Alti Sport) helped adding 17 points. At the losing side center Alan Williams (203-93, college: UCSB) responded with 8 points and 13 rebounds and power forward Johnny O'Bryant III (205-93, college: LSU) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Umana Venezia (5-2) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Partizan NIS. Lokomotiv lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Limoges. Lokomotiv will play next round against Limoges CSP Elite trying to get back on the winning streak. Umana Venezia will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Tofas at Bursa.
