Regular Season Round 8: Tofas - Venezia 73-80

Date: November 20, 2019
Rather predictable result in Bursa where first ranked Italian Umana Venezia (6-2) defeated 3rd ranked Turkish Tofas (4-4) 80-73 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Umana Venezia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Greek-American swingman Michael Bramos (196-87, college: Miami, OH) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and American-Dominican forward Mitchell Watt (208-89, college: Buffalo) who added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Umana Venezia players scored in double figures. Umana Venezia's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. British-American guard Tarik Phillip (190-93, college: WVU) responded with 12 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and American center Devin Williams (206-94, college: WVU) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Umana Venezia have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending Italian champion maintains first position in Group B with 6-2 record, which they share with Partizan NIS. Loser Tofas keep the third place with four games lost. Umana Venezia will face bottom-ranked Limoges CSP Elite (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Tofas will play against Rytas in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
