Regular Season Round 8: Partizan NIS - Rytas 86-81

Rather expected game in Beograd where 4th ranked Lithuanian Rytas (3-5) were defeated by second ranked Serbian Partizan NIS (6-2) 86-81 on Wednesday. Rytas trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 24-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 81-86 at the end of the game. Partizan NIS forced 19 Rytas turnovers. Rytas were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Rashawn Thomas (203-94, college: Texas A&M-CC, agency: Wasserman) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 rebounds and guard Ognjen Jaramaz (193-95, agency: BeoBasket) who added 14 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Partizan NIS players scored in double figures. Forward Eimantas Bendzius (204-90) responded with 15 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Mexican guard Francisco Cruz (190-89, college: Wyoming) scored 10 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Partizan NIS keeps a position of Group B leader, which they share with Venezia. Loser Rytas keep the fourth place with five games lost. Partizan NIS will face Lokomotiv (#5) in Krasnodar in the next round. Rytas will play at home against Tofas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
