Regular Season Round 5: Atomeromu - Herner 85-61

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Hungarian Atomeromu as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group I. Atomeromu smashed 4th placed German Herner TC in Szekszard 85-61. The game was mostly controlled by Atomeromu. Herner TC managed to win fourth quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Herner TC to just 7 points in second quarter. Atomeromu dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Herner TC's 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Croatian Ivana Dojkic (180-97, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) stepped up and scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and American forward Erica McCall (190-95, college: Stanford) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Atomeromu players scored in double figures. American forward Jordan Frericks (185-94, college: Missouri, agency: LBM Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and British guard Kennedy Leonard (173-96, college: Colorado, agency: LBM Management) scored 11 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Herner TC lost fourth consecutive game. Defending German champion keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Herner TC will play next round against strong Sint Kateline Waver trying to get back on the winning streak. Atomeromu will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Gruner Stern Keltern on the road.
