Top ranked Spanish Joventut (5-2) recorded its second loss in Badalona on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Turkish Acibadem (1-7) 87-77. Acibadem forced 20 Joventut turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jamal Jones (203-93, college: Texas A&M, agency: Network Sports International) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) and German guard Ismet Akpinar (193-95, agency: BeoBasket) who added 23 points during the contest. Guard Ferran Bassas (181-92) responded with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and Irish-Canadian forward Conor Morgan (206-94, college: UBC, agency: BeoBasket) scored 17 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Acibadem maintains sixth position with 1-7 record. Loser Joventut still keeps top place with two games lost. They share the position with Levallois. Acibadem will meet higher ranked Partizan NiS (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Joventut will play against Umana Venezia and hope to secure a win.
