Regular Season Round 8: Lokomotiv - Lietkabelis 94-90

Everything went according to plan in Krasnodar where second ranked Russian Lokomotiv (6-2) won against 5th ranked Lithuanian Lietkabelis (1-6) 94-90 on Wednesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-18. But Lietkabelis won third quarter 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lokomotiv looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas (205-89) who scored 20 points. Lithuanian guard Mantas Kalnietis (195-86, agency: Players Group) chipped in 6 points and 11 assists. Guard Margiris Normantas (194-96) produced 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Paulius Valinskas (191-95) added 19 points respectively for the guests. Four Lietkabelis players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Lokomotiv keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Lietkabelis lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with six games lost. Lokomotiv will face Andorra (#4) on the road in the next round. Lietkabelis will play against Antwerp Giants and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
