Regular Season Round 9: Unics - Bourg 76-71

An interesting game for Russian Unics (6-3) which hosted in Kazan second-best French JL Bourg (5-3). Third ranked Unics managed to get a 5-point victory 76-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of JL Bourg. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-11. But JL Bourg won second period 25-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Unics won last quarter 20-16. American guard Isaiah Canaan (183-91, college: Murray St.) nailed 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and American-Slovenian center Jordan Morgan (204-91, college: Michigan) accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds. Unics' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Center Pierre Pelos (205-92) came up with 16 points and British-Canadian forward Thomas Scrubb (199-91, college: Carleton) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for JL Bourg in the defeat. Unics moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser JL Bourg dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Partizan NiS. Unics will meet league's leader Joventut in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. JL Bourg will play against Partizan NiS and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
