Regular Season Round 9: Antwerp - Lietkabelis 86-77

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when sixth ranked Belgian Antwerp Giants (1-7) defeated at home 5th ranked Lithuanian Lietkabelis (1-7) 86-77 on Wednesday. Antwerp Giants shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. It was a good game for American guard Kenneth Smith (191-93, college: Louisiana Tech) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Senegalese Ibrahima Fall-Faye (207-97) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Gytis Masiulis (206-98) answered with 13 points and 9 rebounds and Puerto Rican-American guard Kyle Vinales (185-92, college: CCSU, agency: Network Sports International) added 18 points in the effort for Lietkabelis. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Antwerp Giants left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Lietkabelis. It was Lietkabelis' fourth loss in a row. Antwerp Giants will face league's leader Virtus BO in Bologna in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lietkabelis will play at home against Monaco (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
