Regular Season Round 5: Joventut - Andorra 90-80

One of the most interesting games of round 5 was a derby match between two teams from Spain. The game took place in Badalona where fourth ranked Joventut won against visiting Andorra (3-2) 90-80. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Andorra. It was a key game for the second position in Group A. The game was mostly controlled by Joventut. Andorra managed to win fourth quarter 23-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Joventut looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Croatian center Ante Tomic (217-87) who scored 18 points and 7 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots). Forward Joel Parra (202-0) chipped in 14 points. American point guard Codi Miller-McIntyre (191-94, college: Wake Forest) produced 22 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and Czech forward David Jelinek (194-90, agency: Octagon Europe) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Joventut (4-1) moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with Lokomotiv. Loser Andorra dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Turk Telekom and Levallois. Joventut will meet Lietkabelis (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Andorra will play against Turk Telekom and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
