Regular Season Round 5: Valencia - Bourg 98-95
Date: November 17, 2021
Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked French JL Bourg (1-4) was edged on the road by fourth ranked Spanish Valencia (3-2) 98-95 on Wednesday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. JL Bourg was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 28-24 charge of Valencia, which allowed them to win the game. They made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by JL Bourg's players. The best player for the winners was Montenegrin center Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Cuban Jasiel Rivero (206-93) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Valencia's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American CJ Harris (191-91, college: Wake Forest) produced 24 points and 4 assists and Nigerian-American guard Rasheed Sulaimon (193-94, college: Maryland) added 25 points respectively for the guests. Five Valencia and four JL Bourg players scored in double figures. Valencia moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with Virtus BO. Loser JL Bourg keeps the tenth position with four games lost. Valencia will meet bottom-ranked Venezia (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. JL Bourg will play against Bursaspor and hope to win that game.
