Regular Season Round 8: Turk Telekom - Lietkabelis 65-60

Rather expected game in Ankara where 7th ranked Lithuanian Lietkabelis (3-5) were defeated by fifth ranked Turkish Turk Telekom (5-3) 65-60 on Wednesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-15. But Lietkabelis won second period 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American JaJuan Johnson (208-89, college: Purdue) who scored 28 points and 7 rebounds. Mexican point guard Alexander Perez-Kaufmann (191-93) chipped in 5 points and 11 assists. Swingman Gediminas Orelik (199-90) produced 8 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Kristupas Zemaitis (192-96) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Lietkabelis' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Turk Telekom moved-up to fourth place in Group A, which they share with Andorra. Lietkabelis at the other side keep the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Hamburg. Turk Telekom will meet Hamburg Towers (#7) on the road in the next round. Lietkabelis will play against Metropolitans and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
