Regular Season Round 9: Virtus BO - Bourg 83-82

Very predictable result in Bologna where fourth ranked Italian Virtus BO (6-3) edged 10th ranked French JL Bourg (2-7) 83-82 on Wednesday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-17. But JL Bourg won second period 25-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Virtus BO made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. French center Mouhammadou Jaiteh (211-94) stepped up and scored 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and American forward Kyle Weems (198-89, college: Missouri St.) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was American swingman Jalen Jones (201-93, college: Texas A&M) with 17 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import center JaCorey Williams (203-94, college: MTSU, agency: Shark Sports Management) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending Italian champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Valencia and Lokomotiv. JL Bourg lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with seven games lost. Virtus BO will meet at home Bursaspor (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. JL Bourg will play against Venezia and hope to secure a win.
