Regular Season Round 10: Lietkabelis - Slask 88-65
Date: January 18, 2022
Rather expected game when 9th ranked Polish WKS Slask (1-8) was smashed by seventh ranked Lithuanian Lietkabelis (5-5) in Panevezys 88-65 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Lietkabelis led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Lietkabelis outrebounded WKS Slask 36-24 including 30 on the defensive glass. Greek swingman Panagiotis Kalaitzakis (197-99, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 18 points to lead the effort and forward Vytenis Lipkevicius (195-89) supported him with 16 points. Four Lietkabelis players scored in double figures. Even 13 points by American guard Kodi Justice (199-95, college: Arizona St.) did not help to save the game for WKS Slask. Swingman Jakub Karolak (196-93, agency: Alti Sport) added 11 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lietkabelis moved-up to fifth place in Group A, which they share with Turk Telekom and Levallois. WKS Slask lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Lietkabelis will meet higher ranked Lokomotiv (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. WKS Slask will play against Metropolitans (#5) and hope to win that game.
