We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th ranked Venezia (7-6) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Virtus BO (8-6) 83-72 on Wednesday. Virtus BO dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Venezia's 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was French center Mouhammadou Jaiteh (211-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Serbian point guard Milos Teodosic (195-1987) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 assists. American-North Macedonian point guard Jordan Theodore (182-1989, college: Seton Hall, agency: Network Sports International) produced 18 points and Stefano Tonut (194-1993) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending Italian champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Andorra and Buducnost. Loser Venezia dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Lietkabelis. Virtus BO will meet at home Cedevita Ol. (#6) in the next round. Venezia will play against the league's second-placed Valencia and hope to secure a win.
