Regular Season Round 3: Arad - Arka Gdynia 63-72

Rather expected game when Romanian Arad (0-3) was defeated at home by Polish Arka Gdynia (2-1) 72-63 on Wednesday. Arka Gdynia forced 19 Arad turnovers. The best player for the winners was center Magdalena Szymkiewicz (180-2002) who scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Jasmine Thomas (175-1991, college: Michigan St.) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Arka Gdynia players scored in double figures. Arka Gdynia's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Cypriot-Romanian guard Veatriki Akathiotou (166-1995) who recorded 14 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian guard Brankica Hadzovic (175-1981) added 14 points respectively. Arka Gdynia will meet Bydgoszcz on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Arad will play against Ormanspor in Ankara and hopes to get finally their first victory.
