There was a minor upset when 6th ranked German Hamburg Towers (2-3) were crushed at home by eighth ranked British Lions (2-3) 103-75 on Tuesday. Lions shot 61.7 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Lions looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was Croatian Tomislav Zubcic (213-1990, agency: BIG) who scored 22 points and 4 assists. American forward Sam Dekker (204-1994, college: Wisconsin) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Lions players scored in double figures. American Yoeli Childs (203-1998, college: BYU) produced 19 points and 8 rebounds and Lukas Meisner (203-1995, college: Columbia) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lions moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Hamburg Towers. Lions will meet at home WKS Slask (#10) in the next round. Hamburg Towers will play against Paris (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
