Regular Season Round 6: Promitheas - Turk Telekom 83-98

Another exciting game was played in Patras between second ranked Turkish Turk Telekom and top-ranked Greek Promitheas where Turk Telekom (5-1) beat Promitheas (4-2) on the road with 15-point difference 98-83. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Promitheas. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Turk Telekom dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Promitheas' 24. It was a good game for American guard Jerian Grant (196-1992, college: Notre Dame) who led his team to a victory with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. French forward Axel Bouteille (201-1995, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. American guard Joseph Young (188-1992, college: Oregon, agency: MSG) replied with 30 points and 5 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) and Lithuanian Arnoldas Kulboka (208-1998) added 19 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Promitheas. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Turk Telekom have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Bourg. Promitheas at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with 6 other teams. Turk Telekom will play against Gran Canaria (#4) in Las Palmas in the next round. Promitheas will play at home against Lions and hope to get back on the winning track.
