Regular Season Round 7: Turk Telekom - Gran Canaria 81-88

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Turkish Turk Telekom (5-2) in Ankara on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by Spanish Gran Canaria (5-2) 88-81. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Turk Telekom. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Gran Canaria looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of French power forward Damien Inglis (204-1995) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Brazilian Vitor Benite (194-1990, agency: Pro Sports) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Point guard Tony Taylor (184-1990, college: GWU) answered with 28 points and Erkan Yilmaz (192-1997) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Turk Telekom. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gran Canaria keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Turk Telekom. Gran Canaria is looking forward to face Buducnost (#3) in Podgorica in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Turk Telekom will play at home against Lions and is hoping to win this game.
