Regular Season Round 12: Slask - Hamburg 64-100

There was no surprise in Wroclaw where 10th ranked Polish WKS Slask (1-11) was crushed by eighth ranked German Hamburg Towers (4-8) 100-64 on Wednesday. Hamburg Towers dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to WKS Slask's 40. They outrebounded WKS Slask 36-23 including 28 on the defensive glass. Hamburg Towers looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by WKS Slask's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Slovenian point guard Ziga Samar (197-2001) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 assists and Swiss guard Anthony Polite (198-1997, college: FSU) who added 19 points during the contest. Five Hamburg Towers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Jeremiah Martin (189-1996, college: Memphis) with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Irish-Canadian Conor Morgan (206-1994, college: UBC, agency: BeoBasket) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hamburg Towers maintains eighth position with 4-8 record, which they share with Cluj Napoca. WKS Slask lost third consecutive game. Defending Polish champion keeps the tenth place with 11 games lost. Hamburg Towers will meet at home higher ranked Promitheas (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. WKS Slask will play against Turk Telekom (#4) in Ankara and hope to win that game.
