Regular Season Round 18: H.Tel-Aviv - Promitheas 108-69
Date: March 28, 2023
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tel Aviv. Third ranked Israeli Hapoel Tel-Aviv faced one of their biggest challengers Greek Promitheas. Host Hapoel Tel-Aviv (13-5) smashed guests from Patras (11-7) 108-69. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Promitheas. Hapoel Tel-Aviv dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Promitheas' 28 and made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Promitheas 41-14 including a 31-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hapoel Tel-Aviv players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Promitheas' players. Promitheas were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for French-American forward Jaylen Hoard (203-1999, college: Wake Forest) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. Tomer Ginat (202-1994, agency: Avi Zilberman) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. American guard Joe Thomasson (193-1993, college: Wright St., agency: Octagon Europe) replied with 16 points and Lithuanian Arnoldas Kulboka (208-1998) added 14 points in the effort for Promitheas. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hapoel Tel-Aviv have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Joventut and Turk Telekom. Promitheas at the other side dropped to the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Ulm.
