Regular Season Round 4: Venezia - Joventut 79-64

There was an upset when higher ranked Spanish Joventut (2-2) lost on the road to ninth ranked Italian Umana Venezia (1-3) 79-64 on Tuesday. Umana Venezia looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by point guard Marco Spissu (184-1995) who scored that evening 24 points and 6 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots) and power forward Amedeo Tessitori (207-1994) supported him with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Even 20 points by American DeShaun Thomas (201-1991, college: Ohio St.) did not help to save the game for Joventut. His fellow American import point guard Andrew Andrews (188-1993, college: Washington) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Umana Venezia left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Joventut keeps the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Umana Venezia will meet higher ranked Besiktas (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Joventut will play against Hamburg Towers and hope to secure a win.
