Regular Season Round 7: Gran Canaria - Slask 81-77

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked PolishWKS Slask (0-7) lost to leader Spanish Gran Canaria (7-0) in Las Palmas 77-81 on Wednesday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Gran Canaria dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to WKS Slask 's 30. They outrebounded WKS Slask 36-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. Gran Canaria looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gran Canaria made 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for Polish-American A.J. Slaughter (191-1987, college: WKU) who led the winners and scored 12 points and 5 assists. Miquel Salvo (205-1994) accounted for 9 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Point guard Lukasz Kolenda (195-1999) came up with 26 points and Serbian center Dusan Miletic (213-1998) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for WKS Slask in the defeat. Five WKS Slask players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gran Canaria have an impressive series of seven victories in a row.
