Cornelia Fondren's triple-double lands her Player of the Week award

American Guard Cornelia Fondren (173-G-1993) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Autosped G BCC Derthona Basket Scrivia, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 33-year old player recorded a triple-double of 27 points adding also 11 rebounds and 10 assists, while her team beat Landerneau (#3, 1-2) 73-68. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Scrivia to consolidate first place in the EuroCup. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Scrivia already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Fondren had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range. It's her second year at Scrivia and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Former Syracuse University star has very solid stats this year. Fondren is in league's top in assists (4th best: 7.7apg) and averages impressive 3.0spg. Worth to mention Fondren played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped her get the job in pro basketball.

The second best player in last round's games was young Lithuanian Laura Miskiniene-Svaryte (190-C/F-1992) of league's second-best Enea AZS Politechnika Poznan. Miskiniene-Svaryte had a very good evening with a double-double of 16 points and 18 rebounds. Of course Poznan cruised to a 87-80 relatively comfortable win over Fribourg (0-3). The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Miskiniene-Svaryte is a newcomer at Poznan, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Sydney Shaw (175-G-2004) of Baxi Ferrol (#3). Shaw got into 30-points club by scoring 32 points in the last round. She went also for four assists. She was a key player of Ferrol, leading her team to a 87-65 easy win against #4 ranked Wroclaw in a game of the week. The chances of Ferrol not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 2 games, recording just one victory. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Shaw could try to bring Ferrol's a little bit higher in the standings. Shaw has a very solid season. In 5 games in EuroCup she scored 13.4ppg.
