Dario Saric (204-F/C-94)'s triple-double leads Croatia U16 to the crown at
the U16 European Championship Division A. Croatia smashed Lithuania 80:52 in the
Final as the led from the beginning until the end. It was an easy start for
Croatia in the game as they wanted to prove their ambitions in the game. Croatia
rightfully reached the Final and looked better than any other team. The first
quarter has ended when Croatia enjoyed 30:6 advantage when Lebo nailed three to
shock the Baltic side. Mavra scored for 34:10 and Urli scored for 39:16. Tamulis
nailed two for 39:22 and Gintvainis reduced to 39:25. Moreover Lithuania came
back to the game as Grigonis nailed three for 41:32. Bundovic meanwhile sent the
teams to the lockers for 27:32.
Dario Saric had already 17 points after two quarters. The picture did not
change in the second half and the teams mostly were killing time in the court.
It was clear that Croatia would benefit from the game and triumph in the
tournament. Lebo made it 80:52 with almost 2 minutes until the end but as it
became clear after, those points were the last.
Dario Saric erupted with 30 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists for enormous
triple-double of the game. He was awarded MVP of the Finals and of course of the
whole championship as well. Bundovic followed him with 22 points and Lebo added
12. Krestinin ended up with 14 points and Tamulis scored 8.
3rd place Spain - Turkey

Turkey U16 is third in Montenegro as the team won the game for the higher place
over Spain. The teams finished their U16 European Championship Division A as
Turkey grabbed 75:64 win for the bronze medals. Turkey had a more confident
start and took 7:0 lead. Sipahi scored for 17:9 and Birsen closed the first
period from the perimeter for 25:17. Turkey continued to dominate the court and
Alp scored for points in a row for 33:20 advantage. Birsen and Altunbey brought
tree each for 43:30 deficit at the halftime. Turkey even reached 20-point
advantage midway through the third period but Spain managed to reduce. Marin cut
it to 52:42, while Hernangomez made it 59:47 at the end of three quarters.
Moreover the latter also remained Spain alive at 61:56 with 6 minutes in the
game. Marin cut it to 66:62, but a 7-0 run brought the win for the Turkish side.
Mehmet Sozen (200-F-94) brought the last points for the winners as Turkey
finished third in Bar. Altunbey poured in 18 points for the winners and Sipahi
netted 17. Alp ended up with 10 points in a win. Sans replied with 16 points in
the losing case as Spain is fourth in Bar. Marin notched 15 and Hernangomez

5-6 places France - Serbia

Serbia registers 5th place in Bar, France is 6th at the U16 European
Championship Division A. Serbia produced a 55:45 defensive win for the higher
place. France started with 4-0 run and Chassang scored for 10:6. Serbia however
closed the period with 11-0 run to take 17:10 lead at the end of the period.
Radicevic posted three for 23:13 and Jankovic nailed four in a row for 31:16.
Inglis drove a lay-up for 32:19 at the halftime. Jankovic increased the lead to
35:21, while Radicevic nailed three for 43:33. Majic was the last to post in the
third period for 45:33 as he drove a lay-up. Ristic and Jaiteh exchanged the
baskets in the start of the last frame for 47:35 and
Anthony Racine (188-G-94) reduced to 49:40. Zorbas and Pot nailed threes at
the end of the quarter as the sides finished their last game at the 2010 U16
European Championship Division A. Jaiteh was the last to score in the game to
bring the final score on the board. Radicevic chipped in 16 points, while
Jankovic added 11. Zorbas finished the night with 6 points for the 5th place.
Anthony Racine and Jaiteh notched 11 points each, while Chassang scored 9.
7-8 places Russia - Montenegro

Russia clinched the 7th place at the U16 European Championship in Bar. In their
last game of the tournament the team upset the hosts, Montenegro 78:64 as only
200 fans came to support both sides. Ilnitskiy and Vusovic scored the first
points for their teams and then the score was tied several times. Montenegro
grabbed 15:14 and then Pajovic gave the hosts 19:17. Montenegro played well in
the quarter and stayed in front for the whole time.
Nikola Ivanovic (187-G-94) increased the lead to 34:29, while Ilnitskiy
reduced to 34:33 at the halftime. Mikovic scored for 46:45, but Russia created a
10-0 run for 56:45. Russia won the quarter 26-16 and enjoyed 59:50 at the end of
the third period. Martynov gave Russia 61:50, but the hosts were too far to give
up.
Nikola Ivanovic pulled his side to 67:63 with 3 minutes in the game. The
score was 71:64, but Russia closed the game with 7-0 run for the final success.
Ilnitskiy poured in 19 points for the winners and Alferov notched 17 points.
Martynov and Sizov posted 12 points each in a win.

Group G Denmark - Germany
77-72
Denmark and Germany opened the last day at the U16 European Championship in Bar,
Montenegro. In the game that did not decide anything Denmark won 77:72 at the
Classification Round on Sunday afternoon but next year will have to start on
Division B. Denmark finished on the last spot with 1-5 record, while Germany
finished on top with 4-2 record. Denmark opened the game with 7-0 run and
Holm-Weber scored three for 10:2. Denmark looked better int he first frame and
kept 24:18 advantage after 10 minutes. Moeller nailed three for 29:20, while
Larsen increased to 36:26. Moeller scored for 45:31 and Lockhart sent the teams
to the lockers for 45:35. Germany looked better in the third period and reduced
the gap to 57:53 after three quarters. Taylor remained Germany alive at the end
of thirty minutes after his team produced 18-12 in the frame. Moreover
Phillip Daubner (194-G-94) cut it to 59:56, while Uhl reduced to 71:70.
Moeller scored three free throws at the very end for the final win. Moeller led
the way with 18 points for the winners for the initial victory at the
Classification Round. Holm-Weber and Knudsen netted 14, while Andersen posted
10. Marin delivered 17 points in the losing case and Lockhart notched 12. Israel - Latvia

The game between Israel and Latvia became one of the most interesting in Day 9
at the U16 European Championship Division A. It was not a Final game, but it was
the game for remaining in Division A for the next year. Latvia grabbed 65:62 to
take 4-2 record and finish second in Classification Round at Osnovna Skola
Jugoslavija in Bar, Montenegro on Sunday afternoon. Adar Ben Aliza gave his side
the first lead and he also increased the lead to 11:3. Israel later created a
10-0 run to tie the game at 15:15, but Levy closed the period at 17:15. Latvia
took the control of the game in the second period and produced 18-11 in the
frame. Ceplitis nailed three for 33:28 halftime advantage.
Ceslavs Mateikovics (200-C/F-94) scored for 45:37, while Adins netted two
for 47:40. Leimanis later increased to 52:44 and Reinfelds nailed three for
57:44.
Ceslavs Mateikovics brought 65:57 with 20 seconds in the game and Kikus
scored the last 10 points for Israel however could reduce only to 65:62.
Ceslavs Mateikovics poured in 23 points for the winners and Ceplitis netted
12. Leimanis ended up with 10 points for the Latvian side. Kikus responded with
18 points in the losing case and Koulechov added 11.

Croatia U16 advanced to the Final in Bar due to another masterpiece of
Dario Saric (204-F/C-94). He led the team to the last most important game
after 86:82 win. Spain surprised the winners with 7 consecutive points and Homs
scored for 12:8. Croatia needed an 8-0 run for 16:12 as
Dario Saric nailed three. Lebo scored another one from the perimeter for
22:18. Mavra scored for 26:18 and Brzoja gave Croatia 33:27. Spain however won
the rest of the half and Josep Perez tied the game at 37:37. Sans sent the teams
to the lockers for 40:37 halftime advantage. The battle continued in the third
period and Lebo tied it again at 46:46. Urli made the same for 54:54 and he also
added one more point to close the third period. Croatia dominated the last
quarter and led from the beginning until the end. The majority of the last
points the winners scored from the free throw line and celebrated 86:82 win.

Lithuania advanced to the Final of the U16 European Championship as they shocked
Turkey in Bar. The Baltic side that hardly reached the Qualifying Round will no
play in the Final as they beat Turkey 80:65. It was hard to tell the favorite of
the game, however Turkey looked better in the whole tournament. Lithuania,
meanwhile surprised the hosts and eliminated another opponent tonight to
continue their winning streak. Dimsa brought the winners 7:3 and Krestinin
closed the run at 15:3. Turkey reduced the gap a bit and finished the first
frame at 20:12. Dimsa again shocked Turkey with 35:16 and Gintvainis nailed
three for 38:22.
Augustinas Jankaitis (202-C/F-94) was the last to score int he half to give
the Baltic side 40:25 halftime deficit. Sipahi reduced to 32:42 and Haciismail
nailed two for 37:50.

55:39. The last quarter became offensive in the court and the teams combined for
51 points. Although Turkey won 26-25, they could not reach the Final.

France edged Russia and hopes for the fifth place now at the U16 European
Championship in Bar, Montenegro. France won the first game of Saturday over
Russia 68:51 as the latter will play tomorrow for the 7th place. Three times the
teams were tied in the opening quarter and then France went on a lead. Meri
closed a 7-0 run for 13:6 advantage and
Anthony Racine (188-G-94) closed the frame at 22:16. Chassang nailed three
for 27:18, while Mendez followed him from the perimeter for 32:23. Guzikov and
Pinda exchanged the baskets at the end of the half for 33:25. In the third
period France held the double-digit-win in the majority of the frame. Jaiteh
made a dunk for his side and Annaev scored three at the end of the third period.
With another 6-0 run France started the last period and incrteased the lead
until the buzzer.
Anthony Racine scored for 57:44 and Chassang gave France 64:50. Sene made a
dunk for the final 68:51 win.

Serbia stepped closer to the 5th spot in the tournament. Tonight Spain rolled
over the hosts of the U16 European Championship 78:74. Tomorrow Serbia will face
France that edged Russia and hopes for the fifth place now at the U16 European
Championship in Bar, Montenegro. France won the first game of Saturday over
Russia 68:51 as the latter will play tomorrow for the 7th place against
Montenegro. Serbia started with 6-0 run and Andusic gave the guests 9:2. Majic
made two free throws at the end of the frame for 24:18 advantage. Ristic gave
Serbia 33:21 and Pot scored for 35:26. Perovic however closed a 10-1 run as the
teams were tied at 36:36.
Nikola Jankovic (203-F/C-94) sent the teams to the lockers for 40:38 hosts'
lead. Montenegro could not keep the lead and Ristic gave Serbia 55:47.

minutes to play in the court. Nikola Ivanovic tied it at 66:66, while Durovic
gave the hosts 69:67. Serbia closed the game with 7-0 run and Radicevic brought
the last points for the winners.

nailed 13, whilst Ristic posted 10. Nikola Ivanovic responded with 29 points in
the losing effort. Perovic netted 13, while Durovic and Pajovic notched 10

9-10 places Italy - Greece

Italy and Greece played their last game at the U16 European Championship in
Montenegro. In the Classification Game for 9th to 10th Place Italy clinched the
higher place after 67:53 win. Karampekis gave Greece the first lead and
Mitsialos scored for 6:4. The first period belonged to the Greek side that
enjoyed 18:14 after the first 10 minutes. Rovere tied the game at 20:20 and
Turel gave Italy 27:26 lead. Candussi was the last to score before the halftime
as he brought his side 32:29. In the third period Italy proved the ambitions for
the higher place and after 19-11 had 11-point deficit. Imbro closed the third
quarter at 51:40 and Italy never looked behind after. Greece started the last
period with 5-0 run as Maragkos reduced to 51:45. Tessitori however later made
it 60:50 and Imbro 63:53.
Dimitrios Agravanis (203-F-94) scored the last points in the game as Italy
and Greece finished their 2010 U16 European Championship. Landi paced all the
winners with 22 points and Tessitori netted 12. Imbro nailed 10, whilst
Rodriguez chipped in 7. Kyprianos Maragkos delivered 14 in the losing effort as

Dimitrios Agravanis posted 13 and Alexandros Mitsialos added 10. 11-12 places Poland - Bulgaria

Poland clinched the 11th place at the U16 European Championship in Bar,
Montenegro. They overcame Bulgaria 68:43 in the last game for both teams, while
Bulgaria finished on the 12th spot. Poland started with 3-0 run in the opening
tip and Borowski closed a huge run for 15:3. Minkov reduced the gap to 20:11 at
the end of the quarter. Struski demolished Bulgaria for 27:11 and Grzelinski
brought Poland 33:19. Grzelinski was the last to score at the half for 37:21.
The third quarter reminded the second one as Poland nailed another 17 points and
dominated the court. Garbacz with a dunk closed the period at 54:32. Minkov
reduced it to 60:39, whilst Dikov scored for 68:41. He also scored the last
points in the game as the teams finished their campaign in 2010 U16 European
Championship in Bar, Montenegro.
Daniel Szymkiewicz (193-G-94) paced all the winners with 15 points for the
7th place. Jeszke, Borowski and Struski followed them with 11 points each in a

Germany U16 remains in Division A and will be a member of it again in 2011
season. Today the team overcame Latvia U16 63:46 at the Classification Round of
U16 European Championship in Bar, Montenegro. Germany started with 7-0 run,
while Latvia responded with the same 7-0. Stelmahers later tied it at 13:13 and
Marin gave his side 19:13.
Ceslavs Mateikovics (200-C/F-94) reduced to 22:17, but Germany created
another 8-0 run for 30:22.
Ceslavs Mateikovics sent the squads to the lockers for 34:28 as Germany won
the second period 15-14. The third quarter became the nightmare for the Baltic
side that scored only 2 points in the frame. Daubner gave Germany 47:30 after
thirty minutes as Germany added 13 points in a quarter. In the last quarter it
was clear that Germany would benefit from the game. After 16-16 in the last
stanza Lockhart made the final scored from the free throw line. Mauricio Marin
poured in 18 points, while Zipser netted 11. Lockhart, Daubner and Taylor scored
9 points each in a win.
Ceslavs Mateikovics ended up with 11 points in the losing effort. Reinfelds

Denmark already said goodbye to Division A after just one year and return to the
lower division following the results of Day 5 in the Classification Round of the
U16 European Championship played at Osnovna Skola Jugoslavija in Bar,
Montenegro. Tonight the team lost to Israel 62:75 as the latter grabbed 3-2
record. Israel needed the win more ans started with 4-0 run. Koulechov scored
for 12:7 and he also closed the quarter at 17:7. Adar Ben Aliza made it 20:9 and
Ishai Kislev (192-G-94) brought 26:12. Solomon gave Israel 30:19, while
Ishai Kislev sent the teams to the lockers at 34:25. Larsen later reduced to
38:30, but Israel created an 8-0 run for 46:30. Hansen closed the third period
with a jump shot at 53:41. Moeller kept the Danish side alive for 51:58 and
Jensen gave them 55:61. Kikus nailed three for the final successful shot in the
game. Koulechov paced all the winners with 17 points as Israel will play Latvia

What an upset came from Bar where local Montenegro lost the Quarterfinal game to
Lithuania in the last game of Friday. The hosts of the U16 European Championship
and more than 3500 fans saw 55:56 defeat as Tamulis scored late two
three-pointers. Lithuania that took the last ticket to the 1/4 tickets will now
play for the top places after another surprising victory. Following their U18
team that triumphed at home a month ago, Lithuania U16 continued their winning
streak. After Turkey grabbed 64:62 win over Serbia and Spain won the thriller
over France 57:56, the Lithuanian team won another drama in the most interesting
game of the tournament. As it was expected the hosts won the opening quarter
14:10 and Nisic later scored fro 24:16. Raupys closed the half at 28:33, but it
still remained Montenegro in front. With 14-12 in the third frame the hosts
reached 47:40, but failed in the end. Tamulis scored two free throws and one
free throw at the end of the game for the final success. Tamulis top-scored for
the winners with 20 points and advanced with the team to the Semifinals. Raupys
followed him with 13 and Dimsa added 9.
Nikola Ivanovic (187-G-94) collected 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for
the hoists that had to play for 5-8 places. Perovic nailed 11 and Pajovic posted
10 in defeat. Spain - France
57-56
Spain snatched a narrow victory over their French counterparts to advance into
the semifinal stage at the U16 European Championship. The game turned into a
read drama in the dying minutes. Spain trailed by four points with just 13
seconds left in regulation. But
Albert Homs (199-F-94) and Marin accounted for five straight free throws in
the remaining seconds to bring Spain to a heart-stopping victory.
Albert Homs finished with 16 points, 6 boards and 5 assists to pace the
Spaniards. The teams kept it close until France went on a 9:0 run to take an
18:12 lead at the first intermission. But Spain quickly narrowed the deficit.
Moreover Marin hit a three-pointer to give Spain a 27:26 lead midway through the
second term. Spain accumulated a 34:30 buffer at the big break. Sene helped the
French team retain the advantage late in the third stanza as they entered the
fourth quarter up by two points 42:40. France stretched the lead to 7 points in
the fourth period.
Albert Homs and Agusti Sans Valls erased the difference just to witness
France bounce back as those grabbed a 56:52 lead with 13 seconds to go. Josep
Perez and Agusti Sans Valls scored 9 points each for Spain.

Croatia became the first Semifinalist of the U16 European Championship in Bar,
Montenegro. The first-seeded team from Group E overcame Russia 81:65 due to the
last period. Croatia looked better in the opening tip and enjoyed 11:2
advantage. Russia meanwhile responded with 11-0 run and took 12:11 lead. Lebo
gave Croatia 16:15 at the end of the first period. Urli tied the game at 21:21,
while
Martin Junakovic (194-G-94) scored three for 24:23 lead. The teams exchanged
the lead several times and then Egorov brought Russia 36:21. Bundovic closed the
first half at 32:36 as he made a lay-up. Sizov exploded with Russia for 47:38
making a three pointer midway through the third quarter. Croatia however created
a massive 13-0 run for 51:47.
Martin Junakovic scored three at the end of the frame for 54:50. It became
cleat from that moment that Croatia was the favorite of the game that finished
on top of the Qualifying Round and advanced from the first place. Bundovic
netted three for 60:50, while
Martin Junakovic made it 62:56. Saric made it 76:62 and Bundovic added two
free throws for 78:64. Saric exploded with 34 points for the winners for another
win.

Turkey snatched a narrow victory against Serbia in the quarterfinal clash at the
U16 European Championship in Bar, Montenegro. Tayfun Erulku knocked down a
buzzer-beating jumper to propel Turkey to a hard-fought victory. He finished
with 25 points and 6 rebounds to pace the charge.
Vasilje Micic (192-G-94) and Stefan Pot gave Serbia a 15:8 lead late in the
opening quarter. Serbia posted a 17:12 lead at the first break. Dordevic and
Zorbas stretched the gap to 8 points midway through the second stanza. Serbia
finished the first half up by 3 points 24:21. Turkey went ahead midway through
the third term as they grabbed a 34:32 advantage. Tayfun Erulku notched a
three-pointer to ensure a 51:40 lead for Turkey at the final break. Ismail
Gulmez gave Turkey a 12-point advantage midway through the fourth term. But
Serbia restored the intrigue. They went on an 8:0 rally to narrow the gap at
just 2-point mark with 46 seconds remaining. Tayfun Erulku hit a free throw to
enlarge the margin but
Vasilje Micic drained a triple to level things up at 62 with 4 seconds to
go. But Tayfun Erulku crowned the game with a jumper to seal the victory for
Turkey. Kenan Sipahi, Ismail Gulmez and Burak Haciismail recorded 8 points each
for the winners.
Vasilje Micic responded with 19 points for Serbia. Stefan Pot accounted for
9 points in the loss.
9-12 places Bulgaria - Greece

Greece will play for the 9th spot at the U16 European Championship. The team
rolled over Bulgaria 78:67 in the last game of the day. Bulgaria had
difficulties to score in the first three minutes of the game but then nailed
three. Vutev tied the game at 5:5, but Maragkos closed Greek 7-0 run for 18:10
after 10 minutes. Grozev nailed four in a row for 21:20 in the start of the
second period, while Mihaylov nailed three for 26:24. Karamfilov posted two at
the end of the half but Greece already had 33:28 advantage. Amparas increased to
41:30 and Maragkos scored for 45:35. Karamalegkos made one of the biggest leads
of his team for 55:38 and Anagnostopoulos closed the period at 58:38. No matter
how hard Bulgaria tried to recover, they managed to win only the last period.
After 29-20 in it Vutev made the last shot for the final score on the board.

they posted a 23:18 lead ten minutes into the game. Italy went on an 8:2 run
midway through the second term to surge ahead. Poland restored the lead and
rallied to a 46:40 advantage at the interval.
Corrado Bianconi (199-F-94) and Amedeo Tessitori teamed up for 10 points in
a row as Italy erased the deficit in the third quarter. They capped the term
with seven points in a row to take a 57:50 lead. Italy just strengthened their
advantage in the fourth quarter. They cleared off to a 15-point buffer and never
looked back en route to the win.
Corrado Bianconi knocked down 14 points for Italy. Yancarlos Rodriguez
accounted for 10 points in the win. Filip Struski replied with 13 points and 7
rebounds for Poland. Daniel Szymkiewicz netted 12 points in the loss.

Championship in Montenegro. Israel remained alive for stay at Division A after

Latvia earned a narrow victory over Denmark in the classification round of the
U16 European Championship. The victory allowed Latvia improve at 2-2 record in
Group G. Denmark slipped at 0-4 record in the pool. Edgars Stelmahers scored 17
points to pace Latvia. Latvia opened the game confidently. They quickly posted a
7:2 lead and soon boosted the margin to double digits. Leimanis drained a triple
to give Latvia a 20:8 lead. The Baltic team finished the opening quarter up by
12 points 23:11. Latvia and Denmark kept scoreless for almost four opening
minutes in the second quarter. Edgars Stelmahers capped the half with a
three-pointer as Latvia built a 33:20 advantage. Denmark tipped off the second
half with six points in a row to cut the margin. But Latvia stopped the bleeding
and recorded a 39:29 lead at the final intermission. Denmark used a 5:0 run
midway through the fourth term to narrow the deficit at just four points with

Lithuania U16 wins do-or-die game over Italy U16 and advanced to the
Quarterfinals of the European Championship in Montenegro. The Baltic State
needed 80:61 win to finish on the fourth spot in the group. Italy and Greece
dropped their record to 1-4 and are eliminated from the race to the medals on
their way to the 9-12 Classification Round games. All three teams finished with
1-4 records in Group E. Lithuania scored the first 6 points in the game and
Tamulis increased to massive 15:1 lead. Italy remained on race and after a huge
run reduced to 18:17.
Marius Grigonis (195-F-94) nailed two for 26:19 to close the first period.
Dimsa made it 34:21 and Krestinin added tow for 40:26. Landi sent both squads to
the lockers at 42:28 as the Baltic side won the second frame 16-9. Italy was
still too far to give up and Rodriguez cut it to 44:39. Bianchi closed the third
frame at 54:45 as Italy won the quarter 17-12. In the last quarter Lithuania
wanted to prove one more time the birth of the 1/4 Finals. They produced 26-16
in the last 10 minutes to take that last ticket for the next stage.

France cruised past Croatia at the last game of E at the Qualifying Round at the
U16 European Championship. Both teams finished with 4-1 records as France
grabbed 64:63 win tonight in Bar, Montenegro. The Croats hold the goal average
advantage in the tie-breaker over Serbia who went second while France finished
third. Jaiteh gave the first points fro France and Chassang brought 15:10. The
latter also made two free throws at the end of the first period for 22:18.
Brzoja tied the game at 28:28 and then again France took the small lead at
36:33. Racine increased to 44:37, while Junakovic cut it to 51:50 after thirty
minutes.
Charly Maraux (185-G-94) gave France 62:57 with 4 minutes to go and
Charly Maraux scored for 64:57 with a minute in the court. Saric scored two
three-pointers in the last minute for the minimum loss. Racine and
Charly Maraux top-scored for the winners with 14 points each and Chassang

Serbia advanced to the Quarterfinals of the U16 European Championship after the
last win over Greece on August 11th. Serbia finished Group E with 4-1 record,
while Greece finished with 1-4 record. Greece is eliminated from the race to the
medals on their way to the 9-12 Classification Round games. The first period
brought lots of intrigue and interesting moments in the game. It was the most
productive frame in the court and the teams scored 56 points together. Radicevic
closed it at 27:29, while
Nikola Milutinovic (206-C-94) brought 29:29 in the start of the second
frame. Serbia started to play a bit better but the teams stayed close to each
other.
Nikola Milutinovic made a jump shot to finish the half at 46:44 with his
side. Another period brought the tied score several times as both sides posted
14 points each in the quarter. Andusic gave Serbia 60:58 after 30 minutes of the
game. In the last quarter the court belonged however to just one team-Serbia

The hosts won over Spain at the top game of Group F in Bar at the U16 European
Championship. Montenegro clinched the top place after 68:63 as both sides
finished with 4-1 records. In the quarter-finals Montenegro will face Lithuania,
Spain will take on France as the third place team Turkey will meet with Serbia
and Russia will play against Croatia. Who knows maybe the teams will face each
other one more time. They deserve to be named the favorites and show really good
game in the court. Montenegro won the opening quarter 21:14 and then Spain
created a huge run for 29:24 lead. Diaz gave them those last points and then
Sanchez nailed three for 35:30 at the halftime.
Nikola Ivanovic (187-G-94) responded for the hosts to give them 38:37 and
Mikovic scored for 44:41. Hernangomez closed the third quarter at 44:43 and then
Vladimir Mrdak (204-C-94) tied it all at 46:46. The game remained carousel,
but Montenegro looked better at the end. Mikovic gave the hosts 63:59 and
Nikola Ivanovic made the final result at the very end.

Turket made it to the Quarterfinal Round of the U16 European Championship in
Bar. The team outscored Poland 89:60 in the last game for both teams in Group F
to send Poland to the 9-12 Classification Round. Haciismail gave Turkey the
first lead and he was the one to score the first 8 points of the team. Again
Haciismail made it 18:5, while Sipahi added two for 26:11. The Turkish run
continued until 32:11 as drove a lay-up. Grzelinski reduced to 35:16 and
Borowski nailed three for 41:21. Turkey won another period and
Oguzhan Bayrak (208-C-94) closed the half at 45:23. In the third period
Poland managed to produce a better game and won it 19-16. Jeszke made it 54:36
and Grzelinski reduced to 61:42 after thirty minutes. It was noticeable that
Turkey controlled the game and kept the lead to the winning effort. After 28-18
in the last quarter Turkey grabbed 89:60 at the end. Haciismail led the way with
22 points as Turkey finished with 3-2 record. Erulku nailed 17 and Alp scored
11. Grzelinski shined with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, while Borowski
added 13. Bulgaria - Russia

Russia overcame Bulgaria in Group F of the U16 European Championship in the last
game for both teams at the Qualifying Round. The 64:49 win allowed Russia to
advance to the Quarterfinals as Russia had a great second half. Bulgaria didn't
make the next round despite their huge win yesterday over Montenegro and will
join Poland in the 9-12 Classification Round. Ilnitskiy brought the first three
points for Russia, while
Denislav Vutev (206-C-94) tied it at 6:6. Russia again went on a lead,
however Vezenkov closed the opening quarter at 10:12. The second quarter
belonged to Bulgaria that managed to tie the score and take the lead. Vezenkov
scored for 17:14 and
Denislav Vutev made 24:18. Russia however tied it at 24:24 and enjoyed
another six points for 30:24. Sizov made it 37:26, while Alferov increased to
47:28. Bulgaria did not give up and after 13-0 run closed the third period at
47:41. In the last quarter Russia however looked better and reached the very
important victory. Annaev made two free throws for the winners for the final
success. Ilnitskiy paced all the winners with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Alferov
netted 12, while Kulagin scored 10.
Denislav Vutev produced 12 points in the losing effort. Karamfilov notched
11 and Grozev added 10.
Group G Latvia - Israel

Latvia made a huge step on staying at Division A at the U16 European
Championship. The Baltic state overcame Israel 63:58 and improved to 2-1 record.
Israel meanwhile dropped to 1-2 and now is third at the Classification Round.
The teams will go head-to-head also in the final day of the competition and
Israel would hope that game will still matter, but until then will face Germany
after the rest day while Latvia will take on Denmark in hope to keep the good
momentum going. Israel started with 4-0 run and took 13:4 after Levy's basket.
They managed to keep the lead until the end of the first period and led 18:14
after the first 10 minutes. Reinfelds later tied the game at 23:23 and Krastins
scored three free-throws at the end of the half for 29:28 advantage. The third
quarter became the most interesting as both squads exchanged the lead several
times. Moreover they were tied three ties and also at the end of the frame.

win 69:61. Jankovic brought four consecutive points in the game and Milutinov
gave his side 7:4. Serbia won the opening quarter 15:10, while France pulled
back in the second period. Due to 15-13 in the frame France reduced to 28:25 at
the halftime. Milutinov gave Serbia 33:25, whilst Racine closed the third period
at 39:38.
Raphael Binvignat (194-F-94) tied the game for the French side from the
perimeter at 55:55, but Serbia looked better in overtime. Radicevic scored the
last four points from the free throw line to win with his side. Radicevic

Croatia took the lead at the very end.
Filip Bundovic (203-F/C-94) scored for 24:18 and Tamulis closed the period
at 24:21. Lekavicius tied the game at 36:36 midway through the third period and

European Championship. They shot down Greece to improve at 1-3 record. Greece

the Qualifying Round, while Poland dropped to 0-4 and will play the 9-12
Classification Round. Poland started better and Jeszke scored for 17:10.
Grzelinski posted two at the end of the period for massive 32:19. Sirijatowicz
opened the second period and then it became the time for Russia to catch up.
Guzikov tied the game at 39:39 and he made another two free throws for 41:39.

Skola Jugoslavija saw the first loss of the local team as Bulgaria celebrated
72:61 victory to remain alive for the Quarterfinals. Vutev scored the first
points for Bulgaria and Aleksandar Vezenkov added a triple to open a quick 5-1
lead for his team.Both sides traded three pointers and the home team added
another lay-up by Perovic to close the first quarter down 19:15. Bulgaria scored
the first 5 points in the second frame and Vutev brought 24:15. The hosts
reduced a bit later in the period, while Minkov sent the teams to the lockers
for 33:29. Bulgaria again went on a bigger lead and Karamfilov scored two for

They held off Turkey on the second day of the Qualifying Round in Group F. Spain
improved at 4-0 record on top of the ladder. Turkey slipped at 2-2 record. The

Kenan Sipahi (192-G-95) capped the period with a jumper to draw things level
at 23. Spain used a 7:0 run midway through the second quarter to post a 40:34
lead. Spain maintained the advantage and entered the second half up by four

Brzoja later scored for 9:7. Saric closed the first period at 16:13 as he made
the last free throw. Saric made 23:14 and Urli increased to 27:18. Papapetrou
reduced to 31:26 and closed the first half. Trailing 28:37 Greece came back in
to the game with a 12-0 run for 40:37. Croatia meanwhile responded with 7-0 run

the gaps in the standings are at maximum as France climbed to 3-0 while Italy
fell down to 0-3 at the bottom of the rankings. France started with 5-0 run,
while Landi tied the game at 8:8. Mendez brought his team 15:10 and Candussi
tied it at 21:21. Maraux gave France 26:21 after the first period. The battle
continued in the second period and Candussi put Italy in front at 29:28. Italy
kept the lead until the end of the half and Rovere closed the period at 37:35.
France won the third frame 13-9 and enjoyed 48:46 advantage after three quarters
when Jaiteh made a dunk. The teams were tied several times in the last frame and
Jaiteh scored for 62:59. Turel tied the game at 65:65, but the last shot

Bar. The favorites overcame the opponents 77:65 due to the first half. Ilnitskiy
gave Russia the first lead and unfortunately for his team it was the only lead
in the game. Vicedo scored for 16:6 and Sans nailed three for 21:16. Guzikov
reduced the gap to close the quarter at 21:16.
Josep Perez (183-G-94) nailed two threes in a row for 31:19, while Sans

95:69 to remain undefeated. Although the hosts started with 5-0 run Poland
played well in the opening quarter. Grzelinski gave them 10:9 and Szymkiewicz
scored for 21:16. The hosts grabbed the lead at the end of the first 10 minutes,
while Sirijatowicz closed it at 24:23. Later in the game the court was dominated
just by one team. Vusovic posted two for 37:30 and Mikovic drove a lay-up for
47:36. Vusovic nailed three to send the teams to the lockers at 57:43.
Montenegro scored each 19 points in the third and the last periods. At first
they beat Poland 19:14 in the third period for 76:57 advantage. Moreover after

to complicate. Ben Aliza opened first for Israel and Germany responded with 7-0
run. Daubner later tied it all at 11:11 and he closed the period at 16:14.
Israel stayed in front in the beginning of the second quarter, while Germany won
the rest of the frame. Lockhart sent the teams to the lockers for 33:29 after

Classification Round. The Baltic side grabbed their first win in Montenegro
producing 65:46 win. Following the win Latvia take a 1-0 record in the group
while Denmark will arrive to the next game down 0-1 after dropping their third
game in a row. Latvia opened the game with 7-0 run and never looked behind in
the game. The Baltic state increased to 22:8 as the teams finished the opening
quarter. Moreover they added another 18-15 in the second period for 40:23 at the
halftime. Kehris made it 40:25 and Reinfelds scored for 47:24. Latvia won also
the third frame to take 56:35 after three quarters. The tempo slowed down in the

Bulgaria finished second with a 2-1 record and Poland third with the opposite
figures. Spain opened the game with 4 consecutive points and Marin brought 11:8.
Hernandez closed the period at 21:17 as he made two free throws at the end of
the period. Sirijatowicz reduced to 28:25 and Struski scored for 32:30.

start in the game as France started with 4-0 run. They kept Greece scoreless in
the first 5 minutes of the game, however Greece scored 15 points in the last 5
minutes.

Championship in Division A. After the first loss in the opener last night,
Poland improved to 1-1 record in Group C. Latvia suffered another loss and
dropped to 0-2 record. Mateikovics and Krastins scored for Latvia in the opening
tip but as it became known later that lead was the only one in the game for the
Baltic side. After 9:7, Poland exploded with 14-0 run to take 23:7 advantage.
Mateikovics was the last to score in the opening quarter as Poland enjoyed 26:10
deficit. Stefanik opened the second frame and Radwanski later score for 33:15.
Reinfelds reduced to 36:23 and another points from the player brought 38:25
after 20 minutes. Mateikovics cut it to 38:28, while Poland went on a bigger
lead. Borowski made it 50:30 and

Italy had a successful start at the U16 European Championship in Bar,
Montenegro. The Italian side outscored Germany U16 73:54 for the first win in
Group A. Germany surprised the Italian team with 4-0 in the opening tip and
Lockhart later made it 9:4. Zipser drove a lay-up for 14:6, while Jorch
increased to 21:12. Bianconi made a jump shot for 21:16 at the end of the first
frame. Bianchi tied it all at 21:21 and
Francesco Candussi (211-C/F-94) finished the run for Italy at 27:21. Rovere
brought double digit lead at 33:23 and
Francesco Candussi scored for 38:25. Seither sent the teams to the lockers
for 41:30 as Italy won the second frame 25-9. In the third period Italya also
played better as
Francesco Candussi made it 51:33. Germany however was too far to give up and
Marin cut it to 54:46 at the end of three quarters. Moreover Seither reduced to
54:50 and Jorch scored for 58:54. Those points in the middle of the last period
were however the last for Germany as for the last 5 minutes they remained
scoreless. Italy finished the game with 15-0 run to seal the first victory.
Francesco Candussi paced all the winners with 18 points. Landi delivered 14,
whilst Bianchi brought 12. Marin finished the game with 16 points in the losing
effort and Seither scored 9. Croatia - Serbia
69-64
Croatia and Serbia closed Group A at the U16 European Championship as Saric
paced his team to the first win. Croatia U16 edged Serbia U16 69:64 to tie the
record with Italy on top. Croatia won the opening tip 12:1 and Lebo made a dunk
for 14:4 later in the period. Dordevic closed it immediately at 14:6 and then
Lebo gave Croatia 25:15. Serbia responded with 14-6 run at the end of the frame
as Jankovic sent the teams to the lockers for 31:29. Milutinov tied the game at
31:31 and Mavra later brought Croatia 45:36. Lebo scored for 53:43 and Brzoja
nailed three for 58:49 at the end of the quarter. Serbia started the last period
with 11-0 run and took 60:58 advantage. Junakovic scored from the perimeter for
61:60 and Micic netted two for 66:64. Saric closed the game with a dunk for the
final success. Saric paced all the winners with 25 points and 14 rebounds for
the winners. Bundovic nailed 14, whilst Lebo added 11. Majic collected 16 points
and 13 rebounds in the losing effort and Jankovic also scored 16.
Nikola Radicevic (195-G-94) finished the night with 11 points in defeat.
Tomorrow Italy will face Croatia and Serbia will play with Germany.
Group B Denmark - Greece
55-53
Denmark that is represented by U16 team in Division A started with a win at the
U16 European Championship. The team grabbed 55:53 victory over Greece in Group B
opener. Greece started better and won the opening quarter 11:9. The team also
added 17-16 for 28:25 at the halftime. Denmark trailed in the first part of the
third frame but Hansen tied it at 39:39. Moeler scored for 42:39 and Larsen
closed the third period at 44:39. Greece started the last frame with 4-0 run for
44:43, while
David Knudsen (190-G-94) posted two for 46:43. The latter also nailed three
later in the period, while Papapetrou scored for 49:45. After some minutes of
silence Maragkos drove a lay-up for 49:47 and
David Knudsen scored his 10th points for 51:47. They both continued the slow
tempo and played well in defense. Maragkos reduced to 51:49, while Slaftsakis
tied it all at 51:51. The latter also gave Greece the lead at 53:51, whilst
again
David Knudsen scored from the perimeter for 54:53 with a minute to go.
Moeller added 1 more point from the free throw line for 55:53 with 12 seconds in
the game. Greece tried to win the game from the three-point line but missed the
shot. Moeller led the way with 15 points for the first success.
David Knudsen and Larsen followed him with 13 points each in a win. Maragkos
finished the night with 19 points for the Greek side and Slaftsakis collected 12
points and 13 rebounds. France - Lithuania
66-46
France rolled over Lithuania 66:46 at the U16 European Championship in
Montenegro. France closed Day 1 with a 66:46 win over the Baltic side due to the
great defense.
Charly Maraux (185-G-94) gave the French outfit the first lead and Jankaitis
tied the game at 4:4. Lithuania even took the lead at 5:4, but it was their last
one in the game. Racine nailed three to close the period at 22:14 for France.
Jankaitis again brought Lithuania to 24:22 and Tamulis scored for 27:25. France
won the second period 15-12 to take 37:26 halftime advantage. Dimsa brought the
Baltic side back to 43:38, while Inglis finished the run at the end of the third
period for 48:38. Actually the run continued in the last stanza as France
reached 54:38.
Charly Maraux made it 56:41 and Binvignat added two for 60:46. Dallo hit a
three from the perimeter for the final success of the French outfit.
Charly Maraux paced all the winners with 19 points for 1-0 record. Dallo
netted 10, while Chassang scored 8. Jankaitis brought 15 points in the losing
case and Tamulis scored 7. Tomorrow France will face Greece, while Denmark will
take on Lithuania.
Group C Bulgaria - Poland
79-53
Bulgaria and Poland open U16 Division A in Group C in Montenegro. The Bulgarian
side rolled over the opponents with 79:53 win for the successful start. Struski
gave Poland their first points and Borowski enjoyed 10:3 with his team. In a
defensive period Sanny closed the quarter at 12:5. Bulgaria however opened the
second frame with 8-0 run and Minkov posted for 13:12.Szymkiewicz nailed two in
a row for Poland to give them 18:15, while Stoyanov reduced to 21:22. Moreover
Stoyanov and Vutev brought 28:25 and Dikov scored for 29:27. Stefanik nailed two
for 33:31, but Bulgaria responded with 20-0 run and shocked the opponents. After
24-11 in the third period the board showed 53:38. Stefanik cut it to 53:40,
however Poland could not catch up with the winners. Another 15-0 run was too
much for Poland that lost the opener.
Deyan Karamfilov (179-G-94) made a jump shot at the very end to celebrate
the win with Bulgaria.
Deyan Karamfilov top-scored for the winners with 19 points, 8 assists and 7
rebounds. Stoyanov collected 16 points and 18 rebounds, while Vutev added 15.
Szymkiewicz ended up with 17 points in the losing effort and Borowski posted 11.
Latvia - Spain
32-65
Spain destroyed Latvia at the U16 European Championship in Group C action at
Osnovna Skola Jugoslavija in Montenegro. The defensive game brought 65:32 at the
end as the teams left the court of Bar court. Spain nailed the first 10 points
in the game and Perez closed the quarter at 16:4. Diaz and Mateikovics exchanged
the basket in the start of the second period, while Reinfelds scored for 28:15.
Hernandez made a jump shot for 32:16 and Plavnieks scored for 32:18. Spain
played well in defense and left the Baltic side scoreless in the last 3 minutes
of the quarter. Sanchez made it 39:18 as the teams left the court for the big
break. In the third and the the last frames Latvia could score only 7 points in
each of the periods. Brizuela made it 56:25 to close the third quarter. In the
last stanza the squads managed to post only 16 points together. Spain enjoyed
9-7 for the total success. Muiznieks brought the last score on the board making
the jump shot at the very end.
Albert Homs (199-F-94) and Perez top-scored for the winners with 11 points
each and Brizuela added 10. Reinfelds delivered 9 points in defeat and
Mateikovics scored 6. Following the win Spain took a 1-0 record in Group C
before playing Bulgaria the next day while Latvia started 0-1 and will seek
their first win against Poland the following day.
Group D Russia - Turkey
50-71
Turkey opened U16 European Championship in Bar, Montenegro with the win over
Russia. Both teams started Group D of the campaign on August 5th. Turkey opened
the game with 4-0 run and later Gulmez gave them 8:6. Russia played better at
the end of the frame and closed it with 17:13. Turkey meanwhile opened the
second period with 9-0 run and grabbed 22:17. Sipahi nailed three for 37:27 and
had 37:31 halftime advantage. Haciismail and Karenin exchanged the baskets in
the third period, while Gulmez scored for 47:33. Turkey won the third period
17-7 and increased to 54:38 after three quarters. Russia could score only 2
points in the first 7 minutes of the last quarter and Turkey took 62:41 as
Bayrak made a jump shot. Turen brought the last five points in the game to
celebrate the first one with the winners.
Tayfun Erulku (188-G-94) paced all the winners with 21 points for 1-0
record. Gulmez and Turen followed him with 11 points each in a win. Kulagin
responded with 14 points in the losing case, whilst Egorov and Karenin added 9
apiece. Tomorrow Turkey will meet Montenegro in the lst game of the day. Russia
will face Israel at 16.30 in Osnovna Skola Jugoslavija. Montenegro - Israel
81-71
Montenegro claimed the first win at the home U16 European Championship. The
hosts held off Israel in Group D action. Montenegro surged ahead in the first
frame. They registered a 19:13 lead with ten minutes gone. Zizic opened a
double-digit lead for the hosts midway through the second frame.
Nikola Ivanovic (187-G-94) gave Montenegro a 32:18 lead with a
three-pointer. Montenegro maintained the tempo and posted a 42:22 lead at
halftime.
Nikola Ivanovic finished the third term with 21 points to his tally. He
helped Montenegro accumulate a 61:44 lead with one quarter to go. Menco notched
five points early in the fourth term to keep Israel hopeful. Israel soon trimmed
the deficit at just 9 points 56:65. But Montenegro reacted quickly as they
stopped the bleeding and ran away with a comfortable win at the end.
Nikola Ivanovic had 25 points, 6 rebound and 6 assists for Montenegro.
Miljan Pajovic accounted for 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners.
Koulechov replied with 19 points for Israel. Noam Levy canned 16 points in
defeat.
