Germany clinched the historic first ever U18 European title. They defeated Spain in the championship game in Udine tonight. Leonie Fiebich (192-SF-00) scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to pace the champions. Germany went on a 24:11 run in the second term to open a 43:24 halftime lead. Spain managed to slow their opponents down in the second half but came up short of win at the end. Luisa Geiselsoeder (189-F-00) provided 11 points for Germany. Spain responded with 10 points from Raquel Carrera (188-C-01).
3-4 Place
Hungary - Latvia 58-56
Hungary stepped onto the pedestal in Udine. They nipped Latvia to claim Bronze medals. Orsolya Toth (180-SF-00) came up with 10 points for the winners. Hungary accounted for a 34:23 halftime lead. Latvia pulled within a single point at the final break. But Hungary held Latvia to only 9 points in the fourth frame to snatch a tough win. Reka Manyoky (183-SG-01) had 8 points for the winners. France topped Russia to earn the 7th position in the championship. Yohana Ewodo (183-F/C-01) had 15 points for the winning side. Russia snatched a 34:32 halftime lead. But les Bleues limited their opponents to just 26 points in the second half and raced to the victory. Janelie Salaun had 11 points for the winners. Ekaterina Evdokimova (177-SG-00) banked in 14 points for Russia.

9-10 Place
Croatia - Italy 69-54
Nika Muhl (177-PG-01) scored 20 points, issued 9 assists and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead Croatia past Italy in the clash for the 9th place. Croatia piled up a 24:10 lead after ten minutes. They kept Italy at bay throughout the reminder of the game and raced to the win. Lucija Kostic (187-F-00) had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Croatia. Silvia Pastrllo answered with 15 points for Italy.

13-14 Place
Bosnia - Ireland 71-63
Bosnia remained in Division A after they nipped Ireland on the final day of the championship. Ksenija Mitric (162-PG-01) and Andjela Gligic (165-PG-00) posted 14 points each for the winners. Bosnia grabbed a 43:35 halftime lead. They went on a 17:4 run in the third term to clear off for good. Enya Maguire (170-PG-00) scored 14 points for Ireland.

15-16 Place
Slovenia - Sweden 57-64 OT
Sweden outscored Slovenia in a dramatic overtime clash in Udine tonight. Felicia Dourva (170-PG-00) provided 14 points to lead the charge. Slovenia were up by six points at halftime. But Sweden went on a strong fourth-quarter run to force overtime. They sank 13 points in the final period to ensure the winning outcome. Rebecka Ekstrom (173-G-01) had 13 points for the Scandinavians. Lea Debeljak (176-SG-01) topscored with 17 points for Slovenia.

Bosnia - Serbia 53-65
Serbia drubbed Bosnia to take the first win in Udine. Aleksandra Muzevic (179-F-01) and Nadezda Nedeljkov (171-SG-01, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 14 points apiece for the winners. Serbia posted a narrow 34:30 halftime lead. They went on a 31:23 second half run to secure the victory. Tina Selakovic (178-G-00) had 10 points in the win. Ksenija Mitric (162-PG-01) and Dragana Domuzin (174-SG-00) dropped 14 points each for Bosnia.

Spain - Czech Republic 71-67
Spain held off Czech Republic behind 19 points from Laura Piera (173-PG-00). Czech Republic posted a 23:11 lead after the opening frame. Spain however bounced back with an 18:8 run in the second term to secure a 31:29 halftime lead. Czech Republic tied things up 52 heading into the fourth frame. Ireland - Poland 44-64
Poland cruised past Ireland to gain 1-0 record in Group D. Martyna Leszczynska (188-C-00) netted 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to lead the effort. Poland posted a 19:6 lead at the first break. France - Russia 57-50
Nabala Fofana (186-C-00) nailed 12 points to lead France past Russia in the opener. France posted a 17:12 lead after the starting quarter. Russia though narrowed the distance in the next two periods. Lithuania are Division B winners. They outgunned Belarus in the championship game tonight. Lithuania recorded a 24:12 lead after ten minutes. They arrived at halftime up by 11 points. Lithuania dropped 25 points in the third period to ensure a 13-point lead at the final break. They held Belarus to just 16 points in the fourth quarter and rolled to the triumph. Patricija Sribikyte (180-SG-00) had 23 points for the champions. Gabija Segzdaite (186-F-00) added 15 points and 13 rebounds for Lithuania. Sabira Ahayeva (172-G-00) replied with 19 points for Belarus.

Israel clinched Division A berth as they topped Turkey in the consolation final. Israel built a 32:20 halftime lead. They stayed in charge throughout the second half and marched to the win.
