Overview of Day 3 in Matosinhos

Germany - Italy 47-74
Italy gained the second victory in Group C. They wrapped up the group stage with the victory over Germany. Italy dominated in each of four periods and earned a well-deserved win at the end. Nicole Torresani (178-F-2007) came up with 18 points and 11 rebounds for Italy. Helena Englisch (183-PF-2006) answered with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Germany.

Croatia - Belgium 64-67
Belgium outscored Croatia to improve at 2-1 record in Group D. Belgium surged ahead for a 36-28 halftime advantage. They stretched the margin at 9-point mark at the final break and hung on to eke out a tough win at the end. Zhen Verburgt (183-SF-2007) scored 18 points to lead the winners. Petra Bozan (190-F/C-2006, agency: Highlight Athletes) answered with 21 points and 9 rebounds for Croatia as they fell at 1-2 record.

Slovenia - Turkey 52-67
Turkey outscored Slovenia in Group A action. Turkey established a 34-23 halftime lead. They followed with a 17-9 run in third term to clear off for good. Tuana Vural (177-SF-2007) and Zeynep Toremis (165-G-2006) came up with 12 points each for Turkey. Maja Uranker (182-PG-2007) tossed in 15 points for Slovenia.

Luxembourg - Israel 61-95
Israel cruised past Luxembourg to open win count in Matosinhos. Israel unloaded 52 points in the first half to pile up a 20-point halftime lead. They breezed to the win in the second half. Lee Teichman (PG-2007) accounted for 22 points for Israel. Isa Hamalainen (183-C-2006) answered with 25 points and 10 rebounds for Luxembourg.

Finland - France 55-93
France trounced Finland to clinch the third straight win in Matosinhos. France dominated right from the tip off. They accounted for a 47-30 halftime lead. France used a 21-4 run in the fourth term to seal the win. Nell Angloma (181-F-2006) posted 24 points for the winners. Lilli Onnela (182-SF-2006) answered with 14 points for Finland.

Poland - Hungary 63-49
Poland outscored Hungary to climb atop of Group D. Hungary enjoyed a 30-23 halftime lead. But Poland responded with a 40-19 second half rally to secure the victory. Natalia Rutkowska (185-C-2006, agency: SPORTFORUM Agency) posted 17 points for Poland. Patricia Kokai (176-G-2006) and Lili Gabor (183-F-2006) had 8 points each for Hungary.

Latvia - Spain 44-79
Spain claimed the third straight win in Group A. They stormed past Latvia to enter the playoff round undefeated. Spain limited Latvia to just 14 points in the first half to take a 25-point lead. They never looked back en route to the win. Maria Rodriguez (185-PF-2006) scored 16 points for the winners. Anna Liepina (186-C-2007) had 12 points for Latvia.

Portugal - Serbia 68-60
Portugal used a 24-10 rally in the fourth frame to snatch a tough win over Serbia. Portugal therefore clinched the top position in Group C. Serbia led by six points heading into the fourth term but Portugal turned things around and rallied to the win. Clara Silva (198-C-2006) posted 16 points for Portugal. Jovana Popovic (172-G-2007) delivered 15 points for Serbia.
