Belgium - Hungary 67-54
Belgium opened their EuroBasket campaign with a convincing 67-54 win over Hungary, powered by a +19 rebounding margin and superior ball movement. Annie Kibedi (185-F-2008) led all scorers with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Laura Vilcinskas (196-C-2008) added a strong double-double of 11 points and 12 boards, while Jada Lynch (179-F-2008) flirted with one herself-finishing with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Hungary's efforts were led by Kitti Halmagyi (182-F/C-2007) and Leila Drahos (178-F-2007), who scored 10 each, while Dalma Grets (176-G-2007) contributed 7 points and 7 rebounds. Belgium won the battle on the boards 56-37 and dished out 20 assists to Hungary's 13.

Czech Republic - Poland 50-64
Poland claimed a strong 64-50 win over the Czech Republic with a dominant 52-19 edge in efficiency index. Maria Burliga (185-SF-2007) was brilliant, posting 12 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Magdalena Kloska (170-PG-2007) scored a team-high 13, while Lena Brzustowska (173-G-2007, agency: AB Agency) added 12. The Czech side leaned on Bohdana Metysova (175-SG-2008)'s 8 points and 10 rebounds, with Adela Civinova (183-F-2007) scoring 7. Poland also had a 48-42 edge in rebounding.

Israel - France 53-78
France powered past Israel 78-53 thanks to complete dominance on the glass, outrebounding their opponents 56-20. Justine Loubens (184-SG-2007) scored 17 points, Emma Broliron (167-G-2008) added 13 and 4 assists, and Alicia Tournebize (192-C-2007) recorded a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double. Israel's Maya Zilbershlag (180-F/G-2008) scored 16 points and dished 4 assists, while Mai Baico (2007) added a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double of her own.

Slovenia - Finland 44-82
Finland stunned Slovenia 82-44 in one of the most lopsided games of the day. Four Finnish players scored in double digits, led by Nicole Ogun (185-F-2007) with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Anna Gardziella (186-F-2008) chipped in 16 points and 5 boards with a game-high index of 23. Tiia Talonen (175-G-2007) and Jessi Nenonen (178-G-2008) added 10 and 11 points respectively. Slovenia was carried by Tjasa Turnsek (187-C-2007)'s 24-point performance, but the team struggled otherwise, with Finland dominating rebounds 49-19 and index 95-3.

Montenegro - Serbia 58-50
Montenegro pulled off a thrilling comeback to defeat Serbia 58-50 in a tense Balkan showdown. Milena Vujovic (179-PG-2008) led the charge with 16 points, while Ljube Andric (186-C-2007) added 12 and Jelena Bulajic (179-G-2007) scored 14 points with 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Despite a strong 22-point performance from Nevena Petrovic (165-PG-2009) and a solid effort from Hana Predojevic (183-C-2007) (5 points, 8 rebounds), Serbia couldn't hold off the second-half surge.

Greece - Italy 42-81
Italy crushed Greece 81-42 with a massive opening quarter that set the tone. Francesca Baldassarre (177-G-2008) was the star with 19 points, while Olivia Ostoni (175-G-2007) added 13 points and 5 rebounds. Isabel Hassan (189-F-2009) had a strong presence on the boards with 6 rebounds to go with her 7 points. Greece struggled to generate offense, with Apostolia Zormpala (178-F-2008) finishing as their top scorer with 11 points.

Portugal - Latvia 47-50
Latvia edged Portugal 50-47 in a tightly contested defensive battle. Anna Liepina (186-C-2007) dominated with 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Maija Aploka (169-G-2008) contributed 9 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds. Marta Plorina (180-F-2008) chipped in with 7 and 6 rebounds. Portugal's Mafalda Monteiro (178-SG-2008) came off the bench for 11 points and 6 boards, while Madalena Amaro (174-G-2007) added 10.

Turkey - Spain 42-75
Spain delighted the home crowd with a dominant 75-42 win over Turkey, with every Spanish player scoring. Adriana Diaz (183-C-2008) came off the bench to lead all scorers with 12 points and 6 rebounds, earning MVP honors. Maria Cintas (164-PG-2008) added 11 points, while Gina Garcia (174-PG-2007) directed the offense with 5 assists and scored 7 points. For Turkey, Tuana Vural (177-SF-2007) had 9 points and 4 rebounds, while Defne Cinar (164-PG-2008) and Asya Barnes (180-SF-2007) added 7 and 6 respectively.
