ProA Round 31: Leader Rasta Vechta gets another victory- April 13, 2023
The Regular Season in ProA is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Nuernberg - Karlsruhe PS 88-93 There was no surprise in Nuernberg where 13th ranked Falcons (14-17) were defeated by fourth ranked Lions (20-11) 93-88 on Wednesday. Lions made 30-of-35 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game, while Falcons only scored eleven points from the stripe. It was a great evening for naturalized Ivorian guard Bazoumana Kone (190-1993, college: Bremerhaven) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). American-Italian forward Lorenzo Cugini (198-1993, college: High Point) helped adding 22 points. Four Lions players scored in double figures. At the losing side Lithuanian Justinas Ramanauskas (193-2000) responded with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and center Moritz Krimmer (202-2000) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Lions. They moved-up to third place. Loser Falcons dropped to the twelfth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Trier. Lions will meet at home Leverkusen (#17) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Falcons will play against Artland Dragons (#4) in Quakenbrueck and hope to secure a win. Both eleventh ranked SparkassenStars and 10th ranked Gladiators had identical 14-16 record. This time SparkassenStars used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Trier 116-109 on Wednesday night. SparkassenStars dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Gladiators' 42. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists. It was a great evening for American guard TJ Crockett (185-1999, college: Lindenwood) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 assists. His fellow American import guard Conley Garrison (185-1999, college: Furman, agency: GoEmpire Group) helped adding 20 points, 6 rebounds and 15 assists. At the losing side American point guard Jordan Johnson (177-1995, college: UNLV) responded with 30 points and 8 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and point guard Garai Zeeb (187-1997) scored 21 points. Four SparkassenStars and five Gladiators players scored in double figures. SparkassenStars (15-16) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Kirchheim. Gladiators lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Nuernberg. SparkassenStars will meet at home Kirchheim Knights (#10) in the next round. Gladiators will play against Science City Jena and hope to secure a win. Worth to mention a great performance of center Robert Oehle (209-1988) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Slovakian point guard Simon Krajcovic (188-1994, college: LMU) contributed with 12 points and 5 assists for the winners. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven's coach Steven Key allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American JJ Mann (198-1991, college: Belmont, agency: GoEmpire Group) answered with 25 points and center Marcel Kessen (207-1997) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Phoenix Hagen. Five Eisbaeren Bremerhaven and four Phoenix Hagen players scored in double figures. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hagen. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven will play against higher ranked 46ers (#5) in Giessen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Phoenix Hagen will play at home against the league's second-placed Tigers having rather not much hope for a victory. However their fans expected much easier game. 46ers shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American point guard Jordan Barnes (178-1997, college: Indiana St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 9 assists. Serbian forward Stefan Fundic (200-1994) helped adding 14 points. Five 46ers players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Carlton Guyton (190-1990, college: Kent St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and the other American import Shaquille Hines (200-1993, college: UTRGV) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for 46ers. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Artland. Science City Jena lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with 21 games lost. 46ers will meet at home Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#8) in the next round. Kirchheim Knights made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Michael Flowers (185-1999, college: WSU) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 6 assists. His fellow American import point guard Richard Williams Jr (178-1987, college: SDSU) helped adding 17 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. At the losing side forward Melkisedek Moreaux (198-1996, college: Mercyhurst) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Booker Coplin (191-1997, college: Augsburg) scored 13 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Duesseldorf's coach Florian Flabb rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kirchheim Knights. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Bochum. Newly promoted Duesseldorf keeps the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. Kirchheim Knights will meet SparkassenStars (#11) in the next round. Duesseldorf will play against the league's leader Rasta Vechta (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory. This time they crushed 17th ranked Leverkusen (9-22) 97-76. Rasta Vechta shot 60.7 percent from the field. Rasta Vechta outrebounded Leverkusen 28-17 including 22 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Joel-Sadu Aminu (192-1997) fired 22 points for the winners. Julius Wolf (205-1993) chipped in 7 points and 11 rebounds. Four Rasta Vechta players scored in double figures. Bosnian center Dejan Kovacevic (210-1996) produced 17 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Haris Hujic (193-1997) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rasta Vechta (26-5) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place. Leverkusen at the other side keeps the seventeenth position with 22 games lost. Rasta Vechta are looking forward to face Duesseldorf (#15) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Leverkusen will play against Lions in Karlsruhe and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win. It was a great evening for the former international center Andreas Seiferth (209-1989) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Point guard Jasper Guenther (181-1999) helped adding 16 points and 5 assists. Four Muenster players scored in double figures. At the losing side naturalized Croatian center Marko Bacak (210-1995) responded with 23 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and American guard William Christmas (196-1996, college: CPP) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Muenster maintains fourteenth place with 12-19 record. Artland Dragons lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Giessen. Muenster will meet bottom-ranked Schwenningen (#18) on the road in the next round. Artland Dragons will play against Falcons (#12) and hope to secure a win.
