There was an upset when much higher ranked SpanishGran Canaria (10-6) lost to seventh ranked Lithuanian Wolves (8-8) in Vilnius 76-88 on Wednesday. Wolves made 32-of-33 free shots (97.0 percent) during the game, while Gran Canaria only scored fourteen points from the stripe. The winners were led by center Marek Blazevic (209-2001) who scored that evening 27 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his thirteen free throws !!!) and American Andrew Andrews (188-1993, college: Washington) supported him with 25 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Even 22 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) by French power forward Pierre Pelos (205-1992) did not help to save the game for Gran Canaria . American swingman Caleb Homesley (198-1996, college: Liberty) added 20 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Wolves moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Buducnost. Loser Gran Canaria keeps the second position with six games lost. They share it with H.Tel-Aviv and Cedevita Ol..
