Regular Season Round 2: Charnay - Gorzow Wlkp. 84-70

There was a minor upset when Polish Gorzow Wlkp. lost to French Charnay in Charnay-les-Macon 70-84 on Wednesday. Charnay made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Swingman Sara Chevaugeon (177-1993) notched 22 points to lead the effort and American Shakayla Thomas (182-1996, college: FSU) supported her with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Even 26 points and 8 rebounds by American guard Ashley Owusu (183-2001, college: Penn State) did not help to save the game for Gorzow Wlkp.. Australian guard Stephanie Reid (168-1996, college: Buffalo) added 16 points and 6 assists for the guests. Charnay will meet at home Besiktas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gorzow Wlkp. will play against Athinaikos in Athens and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
