Regular Season Round 10: Besiktas - Lietkabelis 94-85

The game had a very big importance for twelfth-ranked TurkishBesiktas as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Besiktas defeated 19th ranked Lithuanian Lietkabelis in Istanbul 94-85 . Besiktas dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Lietkabelis ' 28. They outrebounded Lietkabelis 42-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Besiktas looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Lietkabelis helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian center Ante Zizic (210-1997) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American Vitto Brown (203-1995, college: Wisconsin) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Besiktas players scored in double figures. American guard Michael Flowers (185-1999, college: WSU) replied with 27 points and 7 rebounds and Estonian point guard Kristian Kullamaee (193-1999) added 18 points in the effort for Lietkabelis. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Besiktas have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with H.Jerusalem and Bourg. Lietkabelis at the other side dropped to the ninth place with eight games lost.
