Regular Season Round 20: Un.Olimpija - Karpos Sokoli 92-97

We should mention about the upset which took place in Ljubljana, where higher ranked Slovenian Un.Olimpija (9-11) lost at home to tenth ranked FYR Macedonian Karpos Sokoli (8-12) 92-97. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Un.Olimpija. It looked good early as Un.Olimpija took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Karpos Sokoli had a 28-18 second period charge getting the lead and Un.Olimpija was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 92-97. Karpos Sokoli players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The winners were led by Croatian forward Zoran Vrkic (203-87) who scored that evening 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian power forward Dragan Labovic (207-87, agency: Alti Sport) supported him with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Karpos Sokoli's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 30 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists by American Devin Oliver (204-92, college: Dayton) did not help to save the game for Un.Olimpija. His fellow American import point guard Brandon Jefferson (175-91, college: Metro St.) added 17 points and 7 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the hosts. Five Karpos Sokoli and four Un.Olimpija players scored in double figures. Karpos Sokoli have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with FMP. Un.Olimpija at the other side keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Karpos Sokoli's next round opponent will be FMP (#8) in Beograd.
