There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Croatian KK Zagreb CO (1-2) defeated at home 9th ranked Montenegrin Buducnost (1-2) 81-72. The hosts were already 15 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 22-16 Buducnost's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 81-72 at the end of the game. KK Zagreb CO forced 19 Buducnost turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by Buducnost helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Sean May (203-84, college: N.Carolina) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Krunoslav Simon (197-85) accounted for 23 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winning side. Forward Nikola Vucevic (208-90, college: USC) came up with 16 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Canadian guard Jermaine Anderson (188-83, college: Fordham) added 10 points respectively for Buducnost in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Croatian champion left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Buducnost. KK Zagreb CO's next round opponent will be higher ranked Union Olimpija (#3) in Ljubljana and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
