Regular Season Round 4: Zlatorog - Cibona 76-84
Date: October 22, 2011
Bottom-ranked Slovenian Zlatorog is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to fifth ranked Croatian Cibona (3-1) 84-76 on Saturday evening. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Cibona dominated on the defensive end, holding Zlatorog to just 3 points in third quarter. They made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. The winners were led by Bosnian-Croatian center Goran Suton (209-85, college: Michigan St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Brian Chase (178-81, college: Virginia Tech) supported him with 20 points. Four Cibona players scored in double figures. Even 22 points by Serbian forward Vladimir Panic (194-82, agency: 011 Sports) did not help to save the game for Zlatorog. Croatian power forward Jure Skific (202-88) added 16 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cibona have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hemofarm and Cedevita. Loser Zlatorog still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Helios and Krka. Cibona will meet at home HKK Siroki WWin (#8) in the next round. Zlatorog will play against Zvezda (#9) in Beograd and hopes to get finally their first victory.
